Players and Parents Code of Conduct

Parent/Guardian Code

  • I will provide positive support and encouragement for my child participating in recreational sports
  • I will demonstrate self-control and respect for others, including officials, other parents, spectators, coaches, and athletes at all times.
  • I will not degrade or threaten NSSC coaches, NSSC players and/or volunteers as well as opposing players, coaches or parents, through social media and/or other forms of electronic communication such as texts or e-mails. Any communications directed at NSSC coaches and/or its Board of Directors should be done in an effort to facilitate constructive, open-minded discussions amongst all parties.
  • I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches and officials at every game.
  • I will remember my child’s coach has volunteered their time to help my child have a positive season and I will not yell at or berate them or use foul language at any time.
  • I will help my child enjoy the youth sports experience by doing whatever I can to help. I could offer to send out e-mails, blow up balls, help line the fields or anything else that would enhance my child’s program.
  • I will demand a sports environment that is free of drugs and alcohol and will refrain from use at all sports events.
  • I will remember that the game is for the children, not the adults and I will place the emotional and physical well- being of my child ahead of my own desire to win.
  • I will insist that my child play in a safe and healthy environment.
  • I will insist my child treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials with respect.
  • I will remember that recreational sports are meant to be fun! You don’t have to win to have fun.
  • I will remember that participating in recreational sports is a privilege not an entitlement.

Players Code of Conduct

  • I will remember that the purpose of recreational sports is to promote physical fitness, intellectual, and social skills.
  • I will remember that I am part of a team and I will not cast blame on my teammates. We win as a team and we lose as a team.
  • I will behave in a manner that shows good conduct and sportsmanship knowing that my behavior on and off the field reflects upon myself, my team, my parents, the recreation department, and my community.
  • I will demonstrate self -control and respect for others, including, my teammates, coaches, officials, parents, spectators, and other teams’ coaches and players.
  • I will do my best to understand and follow the rules of the game at the level of play that I am participating in.
  • I will respect and accept judgments by the officials.
  • I will treat my opponents with respect and show good sportsmanship by accepting a defeat with dignity and a victory with grace by shaking hands regardless of the outcome of the game.
  • I will not use social media to degrade or threaten any NSSC teammate/coach, opposing player/coach or referee. I understand cyber-bullying, or bullying of any kind, will not be tolerated.
  • I will remember that participating in recreational sports is a privilege not an entitlement.
